What Is Computer Recycling?
Within all PC’s there are many different components. Some of these are harmful to the environment, meaning they need to be disposed of in an efficient and safe manner. A computer can contain up to 2 kilograms of lead, and the complex mixture of materials found in the various hardware make PC’s very difficult to recycle.
Some IT equipment that is operational or salvageable via repair can be revived and even though it is old, many people can find it useful. This is the preferred option when electronically recycling as it is the greenest. Extending the life of equipment is the ultimate goal resulting in less waste and a much more friendly environment.
The next best alternative to recycle the computer equipment is breaking the equipment down into its raw components such as CPU’s, RAM, PSU’s, ferrous metal, non-ferrous metal, copper and aluminium and salvaging the raw materials so they can be reused.
At Niche, we are all firm believers that actions that can negatively affect the environment should be prevented. So, we fully support the recycling of computers and all other electronic hardware, as it enables us to provide refurbished models that operate just as well as stock devices from recycled materials.
