An IV (Intravenous) armboard is a medical device used to support and stabilize an intravenous line or catheter inserted into a patient’s arm. Usually constructed of rigid plastic or another durable material, it is intended to be positioned beneath the patient’s forearm during IV access procedures. Thick foam is used in their construction to provide comfort and accessibility, and a Velcro strap lets you customize the device to fit the needs of varying patients.

Infant IV Transfusion Armboard – Medium

Features & Benefits:

Stabilization- Help stabilize the child’s arm during IV insertion and throughout the duration of treatment. This prevents the child from inadvertently moving or dislodging the IV catheter, which could lead to complications or the need for repeated IV insertions.
Comfort- The soft and padded surface of the armboard ensures comfort for the infant or young child. It helps prevent pressure points and skin irritation.
Convenient: Includes two removable velcro straps for reliable support and help. For convenient and secure positioning, velcro straps are easily detachable from the armboard and reattached.
Effective Care Delivery: Using baby IV armboards can speed up IV therapy procedures by cutting down on the time and effort needed to maintain IV access and give injections.
Decreased Risk of Infection: The risk of infection and contamination is decreased when the IV site is properly stabilized with an armboard. An IV placed securely reduces the possibility of the catheter coming loose or getting pulled out, which could cause bacteria to enter the bloodstream.

Are IV Armboards re-usable?
IV armboards are typically designed to be single-use disposable items. They are intended for one-time use and should be discarded after a patient’s IV therapy session is completed. This practice is carried out for a number of reasons, including regulatory compliance, safety, infection control, and convenience.

Instructions For Use:

A medical practitioner may use an IV armboard after the IV catheter has been placed and secured.

1. Place the Infant IV Armboard:
Slide the infant IV armboard under the child’s arm, with the arm resting on the padded surface.
2.Arrange the armboard so that it immobilizes and supports the child’s arm gently, without putting pressure points or discomfort on it.

3. Secure the Armboard:
Secure the armboard in place by using the attached medical Velcro strap, adjusted accordingly to each patient. Make sure it fits comfortably without being too tight and doesn’t restrict blood flow.
4. A medical professional should advise how long the IV armboard needs to remain in place.
